Where support goes.

I'm Matt. I moved to Yugawara from Tokyo in 2020, at the start of the coronavirus, and I build this site as a way of giving back.

I've been in town about six years, and I still have my home here. I'm in the local Rotary Club. I've worked on the farms, and I know the restaurants, the bars, and the people. Ko-fi support goes to three things.

Keeping the guide current

New places, wildlife stories, and the same facts in English and Japanese. Hours change, baths close, and shops open. Support pays for the time to go and check, and to write it up in both languages.

An online shop for local wild food

I'm raising money to build an online shop for wild-food producers around Yugawara, and I want that shop connected to wildfood.jp. The food is wild game (ジビエ) from this area. I want people to be able to buy it from the producers.

Right now, no producer around Yugawara can sell on wildfood.jp. Selling there takes two things: the domestic wild-game certification (国産ジビエ認証) from Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and an online checkout the producer runs themselves. I want to help local producers reach that point and start selling online.

Websites for restaurants and small businesses

Some restaurants and small businesses in town have a website that is hard to use, or no website at all. Part of the support goes to helping them update the site, and the rest of how they appear online.

The guide stays free. There are no ads. A monthly contribution can be stopped at any time.
