One transport plan, from departure to the last mile

Transportation.

Choose how you will reach Yugawara, then settle the local movement before you book dinners or assume somewhere is walkable.

01 · To Yugawara

To Yugawara

For most Tokyo departures, direct rail is the calmest default. A shinkansen connection can save time; driving adds traffic and parking uncertainty.

02

One transfer

Faster option

Shinkansen via Odawara or Atami

Take a stopping Tokaido Shinkansen to Odawara and continue west on the Tokaido Line, or ride to Atami and return one stop east. The best connection depends on the train that actually stops and its transfer time.

[2]

03

Direct · simple

Lower-cost option

Ordinary seat on the Tokaido Line

Use an ordinary seat on the same direct Tokaido Line corridor when price matters more than extra space. You retain the principal advantage: no transfer from Tokyo.

[1]

04

Traffic-sensitive

Possible, not the default

Driving

Driving is possible, but it is not our default recommendation. Roads can become heavily congested before holidays, during Golden Week, and around New Year; weather can also affect upper-valley roads. Check live traffic and your property’s parking before departure.

02 · Around Yugawara

Around Yugawara

The station, coast, onsen district, and upper valley are one town but not one comfortable walking zone. Use buses, taxis, and verified property transport deliberately.

A · Bus

Buses and live timetables

Use operator-controlled timetables on the day of travel. The main visitor corridor leaves Yugawara Station for the onsen district, Fudo Falls, and Oku-Yugawara; the town community bus instead links Yugawara and Manazuru stations.

Onsen district and Oku-Yugawara

Use bus stand 2 for the Fudo Falls / Oku-Yugawara corridor. Hakone Tozan Bus and Izu Hakone Bus share the route; check both operators because services and disruption notices can change.

Community bus to Manazuru

Yugawara Town lists 10 round trips per day between Yugawara and Manazuru stations, with some services routing through Yume Park and Usagizawa. Use the town page for the current PDF timetable and route.

B · Taxi

Taxi companies

Call the dispatch number rather than the office number. Availability can tighten around train arrivals, dinner time, bad weather, and the last bus.

C · Walk

Walking: distance is not the whole story

Yugawara’s useful destinations follow rivers and hills. Treat slope, luggage, summer heat, rain, and the return journey as part of every walking estimate.

01

4 min

Yugawara Station → TREESIDE

The hotel publishes a four-minute walk from the station: a genuinely station-side stay.

[14]

02

About 3 km · allow 40–50 min

Yugawara Station → Manyo Park

Mapped streets make this a substantial gradual climb, not a casual extension of the station area. The bus or a taxi is usually more useful with bags.

[16]

03

About 20 min · steep

Nearest bus stop → Hakuunsou

Hakuunsou warns that the route has sharp ups and downs and recommends a taxi from Yugawara Station.

[11]

04

About 15 min · steep finish

Park Entrance stop → The Ryokan Tokyo

The property explicitly warns of a very steep approach and recommends a taxi for larger luggage.

[12]

D · Shuttle

Hotel shuttles and pickups

Only three directory properties currently publish a station pickup. Shuttle rules belong to the booked rate and can change, so reconfirm with the property before arrival.
