Getting to Yugawara
The Tokaido Line runs straight from Tokyo in about 1 hour 40 minutes, and some Odoriko limited expresses stop here too. The shinkansen is quicker with one change. Driving works, but the coast road jams on holiday weekends.

Shinkansen via Odawara or Atami
Take a shinkansen that stops at Odawara and change to the Tokaido Line heading west, or ride to Atami and come back one stop. About an hour door to door.

Tokaido Line, ordinary seat
The same direct train in an ordinary carriage. ¥1,790 one way from Tokyo, and no booking needed.
Limited express
Limited express Odoriko
Some Odoriko limited expresses from Tokyo stop at Yugawara, with no change and a seat of your own. Check that yours does before you buy: not every Odoriko stops here, and the Saphir Odoriko never does.

Driving
Traffic on Route 135 along the coast is slow before holidays, in Golden Week and at New Year. Most ryokan have free parking; the station area has paid car parks.

Getting around
Yugawara stretches from the station and the coast up a long river valley. One bus line runs up it all day, and taxis are quick and not expensive.
A · Bus
Buses
One main line runs from the station up the valley to the onsen district, Fudō Falls and Oku-Yugawara. A town bus links Yugawara and Manazuru stations.
Up the valley
Buses for Fudō Falls and Oku-Yugawara leave from stand 2 outside the station. They're run by Hakone Tozan Bus and Izu Hakone Bus on the same route. Ochiai-bashi is the stop for Man'yō Park, and Oku-Yugawara is the end of the line.
Town bus to Manazuru
Ten round trips a day between Yugawara and Manazuru stations, some via Yume Park.
