Ryokan · onsen district
A quiet ryokan in the woods above the river, with rock baths, rooms with their own hot-spring tubs, and dinner by candlelight.
Hours and prices change with the season. The official page has today's details.

Hakuunsou is tucked into the hillside above the onsen district, and it feels further from town than it is. Most of its 17 rooms have their own bath, and the three detached rooms and five main-building rooms run spring water straight from the source.
Dinner is in Senkei, a dining room facing the stream, lit by candles set in blocks of rock salt. The kitchen buys fish directly from local divers. There is a shared rock bath, Sanuki no Yu, and a private bath you can book for 40 minutes.
The nearest bus stop is a steep 20-minute walk away, so take a taxi from the station. It's about ten minutes. Children under school age can't stay.

Hakuunsou sells a day plan without a night: a meal, the baths and a room to use, any time between 12:00 and 22:00. Book ahead.
