On a digital nomad visa you book a room, you don't sign a resident's lease. Makuyama House is the one for a month: an old house by the Niizawa River (新沢) in Kajiya, with desks, wifi and a kitchen, from ¥3,000 a person a night. Shiroyama Bekkan, now called Shiroyamakan (城山館), is in front of the station, and the Yugawara Share House is on the hill above it.
Makuyama House is an old house by the Niizawa River in Kajiya, ten minutes by bus from the station. You book the whole house, for up to six. There are desks upstairs, wifi, a kitchen, and a deck over the river. Stays of a month or more start at ¥3,000 a person a night. Shiroyama Bekkan (城山別館) is the old name of Shiroyamakan, an onsen inn in front of Yugawara Station. The stay nomads book is the detached house: up to 12 guests, three bedrooms, four baths, a kitchenette, wifi and a dedicated workspace, and a half-open-air bath fed from the hot spring. From ¥34,783/night as listed on Airbnb, checked 22 Oct 2026, for the night of 1–2 November. A stay of 9–23 November was not open on that page. When you are one or two, the rooms Watarifune (渡り舟) and Benkei (弁慶), and Shiroyamakan's Tsubaki annex (離れ・椿), can be booked on their own. Yugawara Share House is at Miyashita 698-17, 13 minutes' walk up from the station. The rooms are ryokan-style, for students, workers and visitors, and the roof terrace looks over the town and Sagami Bay. The group room is a private Japanese-style room of 7–10 tatami for up to six, with a futon or a bed, a professional kitchen, and a laundry room for a longer stay. Masato is the host, a friend of Matt's, and he speaks English.

Furnished monthly flats near the station start at about ¥135,000, with about ¥70,000 to move into a Leopalace. Those flats expect the registration a digital nomad visa doesn't give you. Read the visa page before you treat one as your plan.
