Yugawara Share House is a house on the hillside in Miyashita, 13 minutes' walk up from JR Yugawara Station. You get a private Japanese-style room and share the rest of the house with the other guests: a big professional kitchen, two shower rooms, wooden decks, and a roof terrace on the third floor with the whole town and Sagami Bay below it.
Both rooms are on Airbnb under the name Share House Yugawara. The group room is 7–10 tatami and sleeps up to six on futons or beds, good for friends or a family. The single room is 6–8 tatami with its own washbasin and dresser, for one person.
Masato has hosted here for more than ten years and speaks Japanese and English. He lives a minute's walk away and can give you a lift for shopping or sightseeing. There's wifi, free parking and a laundry room for longer stays, and pets are welcome.
It's a lived-in share house, not a hotel: simple rooms, shared bathrooms, and other guests in the kitchen. There's no onsen in the house; Hotel Shiroyama by the station takes day bathers until 22:30. Monkeys come down from the hills some mornings. It's an easy base for day trips to Hakone, Atami and Izu.
Matt lived here from 2020 to 2023, and Masato is a friend.

The detached annex of an onsen inn two minutes from Yugawara Station, rented whole: three bedrooms, room for up to 12, and a half-open-air bath fed from the hot spring.
A small design hotel and apartments four minutes from the station, with rooms that look out to the hills and a restaurant downstairs.
A ryokan at the top of the valley since 1933, with a rooftop bath that looks straight down it and kaiseki served in private dining rooms.
