Nine ways to stay

Choose the stay that fits the trip.

A full ryokan evening, an independent base, or a simple bed changes the shape and cost of the whole visit. Start with that decision—not a wall of booking results.

Before you book

Six details that prevent an expensive mistake.

Confirm the current plan on the official booking source before paying, especially for weekends and meal-inclusive ryokan stays.

  1. 01

    Meal plans

Ryokan dinner and breakfast are usually tied to the selected plan. Do not assume meals can be added after arrival.

  2. 02

    Check-in

Dinner service and private rentals may have firm arrival windows, identity checks, or host instructions.

  3. 03

    Bathing

Separate communal baths, reservable private baths, room baths, and genuine onsen water.

  4. 04

    Transport

A four-minute station walk and an Oku-Yugawara taxi journey create very different weekends.

  5. 05

    Weekend availability

Saturday nights and holiday periods sell first. Compare cancellation terms before committing.

  6. 06

Build the rest of the weekend

Once the stay is fixed, meals and movement become easier.

Choose restaurants that fit the property’s meal plan and check how you will move between the station, onsen district, coast, and upper valley.
