Writers' ryokan · Miyakami
A relaxed, modern onsen inn for writers and solo travellers, with a library lounge, desks, ink-making, and a spring-fed bath.
Hours and prices change with the season. The official page has today's details.
Links marked PR earn Yugawara Club a small commission if you book. The price is the same for you.

Yugawara was a favourite of writers like Natsume Sōseki and Yosano Akiko, and The Ryokan Tokyo leans into it. There are writing plans with a desk and endless coffee, a "finish your reading pile" plan, and an ink-making workshop where you mix your own colour from nine bases.
Rooms range from tatami rooms to simple bunks, and you can stay room-only or with breakfast, alone or in a group. The spring-fed bath and the lounge, Ofuro Café HITOMA, are open to day visitors too.
The hill is steep. Take a taxi from the station (about 10 minutes, around ¥1,500) and tell the driver "The Ryokan Tokyo". The inn also runs two reserved pickups from the station a day.
