Herlequin Bis sits high on the hill above the onsen district, and the dining room looks straight into a bamboo grove. The cooking is French with a Japanese hand, built on vegetables from the restaurant's own garden.
It's courses only, at lunch and dinner, and you book online. The last stretch of road up is narrow and steep; there's parking, or take a taxi. Children of primary school age and younger can't dine here.
