Two evenings of bamboo light in the onsen district, with a tanuki procession on Saturday night.

About this event
Take an Oku-Yugawara-bound bus from Yugawara Station to Ochiaibashi, about nine minutes; the entrance terrace and plaza are beside the stop. The October 3 Tanuki Festival flyer below gives the accompanying Saturday program.
Bamboo lights evoke moonlight, Yugawara's natural landscape, and the town's long connection with the Man'yōshū. On October 3, a tanuki procession based on a local legend brings movement and noise to the illuminated district.
The event runs from 18:00 to 20:30 on Saturday and from 18:00 to 20:00 on Sunday around the Manyō Park entrance terrace and plaza. It is scheduled to proceed in light rain.
