A hillside of about 540 Japanese maples above Oku-Yugawara that turns red later than most, from mid-November into early December.

About Ikemine Momiji-no-sato
Autumn comes late to Yugawara, and it comes down the valley: first on the high ridges, then Oku-Yugawara, then town. Momiji-no-sato, on the Ikemine hiking trail, has about 540 maples and peaks from mid-November to early December.
It's a 40-minute walk up from the Oku-Yugawara-iriguchi bus stop. On the way, the road through Oku-Yugawara's ryokan quarter runs through a tunnel of red leaves.
