About Yoshihama Beach
Yoshihama is the town's beach, a bus ride east of the station. The water is shallow a long way out and gets the top water-quality rating, so it's popular with families, and it's certified by the Japan Lifesaving Association. Dogs are welcome.
Swimming season runs from mid-July to the end of August, with lifeguards and beach huts. Outside the season it's a quiet stretch of sand with the surf breaking, and a good walk before dinner.
It's also the town's surf beach. Surfing School HANA runs lessons here with a station pickup, and WAV'Y and MARBLE, two surf shops by the beach, run lessons too.
