Classical swine fever (豚熱) is in the wild boar in our hills. It does not infect humans.

Kanagawa's table, updated on 21 October 2026 has 89 boar tested in town and 4 positive. Miyakami (宮上) on 11 May 2022. Miyakami again on 17 January 2025. Kajiya on 20 June 2025, and Kajiya again on 13 August 2025.

Manazuru, on that same table, has 106 tested and 10 positive, in Iwa (岩), across 2022 to 2025. Hakone has 3 positive.

Miyakami and Kajiya are macaque country too. Those streets are the ones in Living with the T1 troop. A boar was also reported in Miyakami in January 2026, the call we wrote up in a boar in Miyakami, and an ageing hunters' association.

The catch fell first

Town News, on 17 June 2023, found the seven boar catchers had taken 3 boar in fiscal 2022, after 20 and then 10, and put the drop down to swine fever.

Meat is a separate question. Japanese wild meat that carries the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries national wild-game certification (国産ジビエ認証), and is sold by that producer, is on wildfood.jp. The ministry's list includes no facility in Kanagawa. The nearest name on it is Izu Shika Tonya, in Izu City. Izu Oshima Gibier is on the same shop. It is not in Yugawara. More is on Yugawara wildlife.
